Donatello would be remembered as the most significant artist to bring classical sculpture back from the brink of antiquity. He pioneered new aesthetics in keeping with the thriving Renaissance Humanism movement of the day. This revolution emphasized a break from medieval theology and preferred deep immersion in the humanities, culminating in the art that began exploring man's place in the natural world outside the secular context of religion.
